1) BOOKMARK THIS

Old and new Berkeley, activists and high-tech workers, all head to Moe's Books (2476 Telegraph Avenue; 510-849-2087; www.moesbooks.com ). Founded in 1959 and piled high with used books, Moe's is a reminder that Amazon can't shut down all the little folks. You can wander its upper floors for hours, flipping through out-of-print tomes on everything from 1950s African history to kabbalah manuals. The store also has frequent in-store readings; check its Web site for coming dates. (to read the entire article of all the cool things to do in Berkeley, click here.)
