Green gilt decorated cloth, beveled edges. Juvenile fiction. With tipped in note donated to the library of the Ark-adian Brothers and Sisters of California signed by the librarian. No other markings or stamps. Author was Alice Kingsbury who was an early dramatic sensation in San Francisco staring in the role of Fanchon the Cricket. She became known as the Elfin Star and the book has some biographical notes by Frank Soule including the remark that her triumph was unequalled in the theatrical annals of the Pacific Coast. After the juvenile tales there is an essay on the Management of Children previously published in the San Francisco Chronicle. Front hinge is cracked and first signature is loose.
