U&lc Magazine (64 Issue Set)

International Typeface Corporation, 1974. Soft cover. Good / No jacket. Item #88468

64 issues of the iconic U&lc (Upper & lower case) magazine, the brainchild of iconic designer Herb Lubalin. U&lc ran from 1974 to 1999 with the mission so stated in their first issue: “U&lc will provide a panoramic window, a showcase for the world of graphic arts—a clearing house for the international exchange of ideas and information.”

"The content varied depending on the intended audience. Articles by founders Burns, Roandthaler, and later editor Edward Gottshall and contributor Steven Heller, would regularly appear alongside specimens by type designers like Hermann Zapf, Ed Benquit, Aldo Novarese, and illustrations by the likes of Chas, Slackman, Ed Sorel, Murray Tinkelman, and Lionel Kalish, and cartoons by Lou Myers."

All issues staple-bound and printed on newsprint paper. Condition varies from very good to fair, most being "good," with some edge wear/chipping, a few occasional tears, and some tanning and sunning. Original owner's name written on a few covers, subscription info on a few others.

Earliest issue in this collect is Volume 1 Number 3, published 1974, and latest is Volume 23 Number 1, published 1996. Most earlier issues published in black and white with occasional color inserts; later issues in full color. Additional shipping will be required for both domestic and international orders.
