Riboud led a colorful life: A French Resistance fighter during WWII, he was captured and sent to Buchenwald before escaping with the help of communists. After the war he went into business, eventually becoming head of the Schlumberger group, considered by many to be the best run company in the world. He married Krishna Roy, grandniece of Rabindranath Tagore. They had a large circle of friends in the modern art world, of which they had an extensive collection. After his death, India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1986, for his contributions to society. A calling card of Mrs. Riboud in also included. This book was from the library of Joanne Williams, professor of SE Asian art at UC Berkeley.
